Electrode force gauges

The electrode force applied during the spot welding operation is one of the key process parameters having the direct influence on the dynamic resistance and thus the reliability and repeatability of the produced spot welds.

In order to improve the monitoring of the applied forces in the robotic cells, we would like to recommend to implement the force monitoring system manufactured by Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Limited. The system consists of:

  • force gauge
  • interface controller with LCD display

The results of the force measurements can be also useful to evaluate the technical condition of the welder – its pneumatic and mechanic elements responsible to produce the necessary welding force.

Based on the force readings, the maintenance can immediately plan its activities to restore the force as per the required parameters:

  • implement the short term remedies – increase or decrease the force applied
  • repair or change of damaged parts (air cylinders, valves, regulators, connectors etc.)

The presented force measuring system is specially designed to be used in the closed robot welding cells where tests can be performed without the necessity to stop the robot operation. The test readings can be taken in particular during:

  • loading or unloading of parts to be welded
  • transferring the elements to next stations
  • handling work pieces or car bodies on the turntables

For the force measurements in the manual welding stations, we would like to recommend to use the Testweld TM Electronic Handheld Force Gauge which is also in our offer range.
